To all those that participated in the climate change talk, either in person or via our social media outlets, we’d like to say thank you, thank you, and thank you! Overall, the night went quite well and it was a great learning experience that will surely help us in planning future HubTalks.

If there’s anything that you feel would be beneficial for us to do in our next HubTalk, feel free to let us know.

Also, stay tuned for the upcoming announcment of the winner of the climate change’s social innovation award.

February Update @ the Hub

Hello Everyone!

It’s been awhile but we’ve got some great things to share. This update is a bit different to ones from 2009. We are adding a feature to our news which includes information from some of our neighbours in the area. No, we aren’t getting paid but we are trying to encourage people to participate in a healthier downtown core so this is one way to show your support – participate. Good times and deals are right around the corner downtown Halifax! Tell us what you think as well…

This evening the Hub celebrates with one of our members, Carbon Sense Solutions who will be recognized as 2nd place winners in the innovacorp i3 Start-Up Competition for Zone 3: Halifax Regional Municipality. A big congratulations to Carbon Sense Solutions on this achievement from all of us at the Hub!

In addition to qualifying for this very competitive award, Carbon Sense Solutions has been a great partner in leading the newly created HubTalk focusing on the Climate Change trip, post Copenhagen. The HubTalk series was inspired by hosting the first TEDxHalifax talk in October, which focused on “Global Perspective and Local Learning”. The HubTalks…

The Hub Halifax was honoured to be amoung several businesses nominated for a Halifax Business Award. We were also pleasantly surprised to receive a silver award in the category of New Business of the Year. We were impressed with the selection of businesses who were nominated and there seemed to be a strong emphasis on rewarding green and community values based businesses such as CarShare Halifax (Winner of New Business of the Year) and Lean Machine (Winner of Small Business of the Year). Two great examples of business making a difference in our community.
