Normally I try not to type before I’ve had a cup o’ tea (or three). This would be the exception that proves the rule – with so many exciting events to let you know about (if you don’t already). Today (beginning at ten and going until five) is the 2009 B2B Expo, which happens at the World Trade Centre. The theme this year is “Preparing For the Future”, with a particular focus on sustainable business practices. A contingent from our very own Hub will be there, working and connecting with other organizations and attendees. Admission is free, so y’all should feel free to check it out … you can also drop by the Hub itself – we’ll have a live webcam stream feeding right to B2B. And if you think that’s exciting, well, hold on to your proverbial hats, because it’s just the start of a week of wild and wonderful happenings at and around the Hub!
Tonight we welcome the Ecology Action Centre to the Hub for the Fossil Fools Film Fest. The first in a three-part series, each evening will feature a full-length doc and a short film, with a suggested donation of $2 and a discussion to follow the film … be sure to check our website calendar for tonight’s titles and to find out when the next two are (though you know I’ll buzz about it).
Last (but certainly not least!) is 4 Days, which, in the humble opinion of this HoneyDee, could be the most exciting, inspiring, mind-opening series of events to descend upon our harbour town in a long time. It’s all about adding to our quality of life, about asking why not Halifax? in the most innovative of ways. From a Dragon’s Lair to global perspectives shared, a balcony declaration, street festival and more, it’s four days chock-full of people, ideas and interactions that are not to be missed. Check out www.4days.ca for the full schedule.
November is on its’ way but before we let it in, we’re going to make the most of October! I’ll buzz by again soon with all the Hub-related good stuff that you won’t want to miss. Until then, see sustainable business in action, screen a meaningful film, participate in a new vision for our community – and don’t forget to take time to candy some apples, play in a pile of leaves, or whatever your version of fall fun happens to be …
