Tomorrow, I will be part of a panel at CEED’s Fresh Ideas on Social Entrepreneurship. Fresh Ideas is meant to be “an entrepreneurship conference for youth by youth”.
I hope we can inspire emerging or existing social entrepreneurs. I hope to share two YouTube clips (depends on whether the technology works) to kick it off:
Key Traits of Social Entrepreneurs. An interview with John Elkington, Founder and Chief Entrepreneur, SustainAbility. Social entrepreneurs are generating impressive results — and capturing the imaginations of businesspeople and public…The whole thing is good but I am interested in keeping things brief so try playing from 4:55 – 7:42.
Then on to Social Entrepreneurs: Pioneering Social Change. The Skoll Foundation has recently completed a short film about the field of social entrepreneurship. Its a great overview of the progress made over the last three decades. Playing from 0:00 – 1:45.
I think these two clips help set the tone a bit, then onto the panel. I hope that sharing local examples of successful social entrepreneurs will encourage more of this kind to emerge. It feels like there are a lot of examples all around Halifax and also in Nova Scotia.
