Belated Big Buzz!

Well, the leaves are crunching underfoot, the buses are full of young folks who don’t know where anything is, and  fall is officially here.   But at the Hub, autumn is jostling for airspace with excitement about all the Hub-related shenanigans on the way.

From silly (chair games anyone?) to sweet (homemade baked goods in-house!) to sonic (podcasting station??) to art all day (and night!) … whether you’re looking to walk for a great cause, get a taste of what the Hub has to offer,  or sharpen your personal-development skills, we’ve got events for you to try.

One of my favourite Hub happenings as of late has been the appearance of several lovely street scenes by painter Shelley Mitchell, provided courtesy of Argyle Fine Art, (in what we hope will be a regular occurrence of art chez Hub).  It’s wonderfully surreal to look around the main space and see views of various places around downtown.  Kinda like being inside and outside at the same time.

The idea of being outside segues nicely into letting you know that Hub member Mike Lovell has put together a team and is raising funds for the AIDS Walk For Life, taking place this Sunday, the 27th.  The Walk is Canada’s most significant HIV/AIDS fundraising and awareness event, and y’all can show your support by donating … For more information, you can contact Mike via email: mike@tintedgreen.net

Useful details like this (and SO much more!) can be found on on the Hub Event Calendar – just click on “events” near the top of the page to get the lowdown on what’s emerging on the Hub horizon (and if you’re feeling all global, scroll down to check out what’s happening Hub-wise in other countries).

One more thing I want to share isn’t an event at all, (unless you consider a great deal an event … and some of us do).  I was talking with the folks from CarShareHalifax last week, and not only do they have discounts for those considering both CarShare and Hub membership, but there are a number of other sweet deals that can save you money, and help to support local organizations such as JazzEast and the Ecology Action Centre.  For more info, cruise on over to carsharehfx.ca, and take a peek at “Mobility and Community Partners”.

However you get around, we hope to see you around …
