The Hub corners and walls have recently been graced with new and exciting furniture and additions. Except that none of it is technically new. This week we received another load of items through Revive, a green solutions program that redistributes unwanted corporate office items to worthwhile causes and non-profits.
- Desks now line the back brick wall, well lit with warm regional lights above, giving a nice large work area for two.
- Big Blue, the inviting armchair by the window is too perfect for afternoon breaks – especially since an Etch & Sketch and Scrabble are just an arm’s reach away.
- The ‘executive’ chair is stowed where the Hub home-base computer will be.
- No kitchen party is complete without a kitchen table, always full of organic local apples. Members have already broken it in, chatting over coffee or meeting over lunch.
- Tables are filling the space, allowing many more members to be in the space at one time. Sit in groups of 4 or 8, or take up a table for yourself.
- Screen for the Office Interiors Workshop Room was handmade by the Windbag Company of Nova Scotia, hand-crafted in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia from re-claimed boat sails, taking the fabric “from blew to green”. The 8 x 10 wall of white sail will allow for clearer PowerPoint and multimedia presentations in the space. For more about sail bags or other products, visit the Halifax Farmer’s Market on Saturday morning or email riverrat[at]eastlink.ca .
Fresh tulips, reaching willow branches and – of course – incoming members are always the most lively additions of them all. Come check out the new additions and, hey, stay a while!
